Personally I thought the movie was all right. AFAIK, it was due to executive meddling that it became a Roger Rabbit ripoff. It would be awesome if it was remade with its original vision/script in mind. (Human/cartoon abomination girl? HMMMMM…)
I actually watched this movie recently and was blown away by the backgrounds. I think those held my attention better than anything else in the movie, ha ha!
